Overview

The Market/Hat Department was created under the provisions of the Garo Hills District (Market Tax) Regulation, 1970 under GHADC to administer the markets of the Garo Hills. These markets are traditional in nature and are regulated by GHADC.

  • There are currently 182 registered markets in the Garo Hills.

The Market Department generates revenue from the following:

  3. Permanent Shed allotment
  4. Permanent site allotment
  5. Appointment of Hat Committees
  6. Sale of Cattle Challan receipts
  7. Complaint fees

  9. Settlement of Cattle Feeding Charges
  10. Public Sanitation fees
  11. Paddy Straw Market
